“Although it looks like a huge frozen lake, the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is actually the largest salt flat in the world,” writes Your Shot photographer Menno Lammerts van Bueren. “I took this picture while waiting for the sunset, and almost forgot to press the trigger while enjoying this ultimate moment of silence.” Stretching more than 4,050 square miles of the Altiplano, the Salar de Uyuni was left behind by prehistoric lakes evaporated long ago.
