Our aim in creating Shift in Flow was to create a space for imagination, dreaming and frivolity. Having shot the editorial pre-quarantine we couldn’t have imagined that it would offer us much needed escapism into a world of our making – away from our current reality which is full of uncertainty, anxiety and radical change. “My gut instinct is telling me that things won’t go back to normal and that the impact of this period in our history will have a long-lasting effect on our familiar environments,” says Roman Handt a featured designer in the editorial. The only way to make sense of change is to plunge into it and evolve. “… receive your own true wisdom. We must shed our old ways of thinking. Share vulnerably and create places of comfort and relaxation to connect to our highest sensibility and calling. You have the capacity to evolve. You must allow yourself to expand,” sentiments shared by Noentla Khumalo in her response to feelings of uncertainty. Ultimately the feeling we want to create with the editorial is sense of radical change and oneness, injected with romanticism in these uncertain times and inspire us to dig deeper and push even harder.
