Jet magazine 1975 advert for Lonnie Liston Smith’s Expansions LP. This Afrofuturistic song is considered a classic within various contemporary underground music scenes. It is revered for its transcendental message in lyric, also for its moving, uptempo jazz-funk rhythm. Smith’s “expansive” use of synthesizer adds a spiritual element to the musical composition. Famously sampled on Stetsasonic’s Talkin’ All That Jazz.
